East River Esplanade at Carl Schurz Park

This Upper East Side park runs right along the East River with Gracie Mansion tucked inside it, and the esplanade gives you a good look at Roosevelt Island and Hell Gate's tricky currents swirling below. It's a mostly residential crowd, dog walkers and strollers instead of tour groups.
